Business situation
DDA, Inc. has excelled in personnel management to accomplish the fulfillment of delivering phone books. However the data taken for each delivery contractor was done only over the phone or in person. Data was manually taken down then transferred to the correct field manager for that particular delivery. Before implementing this solution no online application was offered as a means of getting information from a prospective delivery contractor to the field manager then eventually as a hire.
Technical situation
Taking a phone application takes time and the phone operator can’t answer many of the questions the caller has. If an application is given over the phone, it gets forwarded to someone that has to process it and send it to the correct field manager, taking more time. Because the operator can’t answer many of the questions a caller might have, we have found that only 1 out of about 6 applicants is hired (17%). Then only those people that are hired get put into a database (manually) to be contacted again. Year-to-date the website has garnered 47,930 visits yielding 7,110 applicants without any man hours spent. That means 15% of all visitors submit and application to DDA, Inc.
Solution
When the website was created, it was backed by a database that can sort and store all data that is inputted, regardless of hire or not hire. Also housed within the pages of the website is the carrier procedures outline that details the duties of the carrier, if that doesn’t answer the questions the prospective applicant, there is an FAQ page that further supports any questioning that can occur. This gives the applicant a greater understanding and sound foundation in starting a working relationship with DDA, Inc.
